Tips and Tricks: How to Make a Video--Using Screen Capture or Zoom Video Communications

As we mentioned before, there are three main ways to capture and create a video for your students:

  1. Using your phone

  2. Using your computer with screen capture or a video conferencing platform

  3. Using an animation or whiteboard program or app

To make a video from your computer you can use several different methods. If you have access to a platform like Zoom you can start a meeting and click record. I recommend recording to your computer. By sharing your screen and talking you can record whatever information you want to share with your students. You can also use it to create a video of yourself teaching.

If you have a Mac, use the QuickTime app. Go to file record new screen capture.

If you have a PC running windows, click the windows key + ‘G’ this will run a screen capture program. You can edit video in the video editor app or using other software available.
